$20.00This particular MN Native Opuntia humifusa has bluish pads with purplish glochids and often no spines. One of the few native cacti found in the Midwest; low-growing with yellow flowers up to 4" across. Edible, pear-shaped fruit is red when ripe. Sprawls along ground. Native Americans ate almost every part of the plant, including the fruit, pads and flowers. Most often found in dry sandy sites or rock out-croppings in prairies. Zone 4. Sold as rooted pad. 2" high with 4" pads and can sprawl to 18"+ wide.
